Nicorette retires from Rolex Sydney Hobart

At about midnight on 27/28 December Nicorette advised race control that it was retiring from the race and heading for Eden following the discovery of cracks in support structures for the keel and damage to the hull

Just after midnight tonight (28 December), Ludde Ingvall, skipper of line honours contender Nicorette, advised race control that the boat had retired from the race.

He advised that welds in supporting brackets on each side of the canting keel had cracked, causing damage to the adjacent carbon fibre hull structure, and that having regard to the continuing rough seas expected across the balance of Bass Strait the prudent course was to turn the boat around and head back to Eden.

Nicorette expects to be in Eden by midday on 28 December.
