Fourth retirement leaves 55 still racing to Hobart

Star Dean-Willcocks has become the fourth boat to retire from the 2005 Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race.

Star Dean-Willcocks has become the fourth boat to retire from the 2005 Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race.

The Sydney 38 OD, skippered by Ola Strand Anderson from Sydney,  has rigging problems and is heading to Hobart. 

There are still 55 boats racing, the earlier retirements having been Conergy (Ger), Sirromet Life Style Wines (NSW) and Icefire (Vic).

The 29th boat to finish will be Pekljus, skippered by expat Tasmanian David Ferrall, with five of the six crew being from the Apple Isle.  The 50-footer is expected to finish shortly after 7.15pm

Other boats in the Derwent River or Storm Bay at 7.00pm this evening were Ocean Skins, Fuzzy Logic, Cougar, Challenge, Fincorp More Witchcraft, Chutzpah, Quest, Prime Time and Tow Truck.
