The pair will spend just a few hours in Hobart before continuing on to Sydney in order to line up again on Boxing Day to contest the boat’s 15th Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race.

Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race entrant Berrimilla is expected to arrive in Hobart late on Monday 12 December after a year-long, round-world sailing adventure.

After finishing the race in Hobart last year, CYCA member and skipper Alex Whitworth and friend Peter Crozier sailed the 10.2 metre, 28 year old yacht to the UK via the Falkland Islands.

They then competed in the prestigious Rolex Fastnet Race, finishing 2nd in their division and being recognised for their achievements with a Royal Ocean Racing Club Seamanship Award.

The pair are due late Monday, possibly as late as midnight, and will spend just a few hours in Hobart before continuing on to Sydney in order to line up again on Boxing Day to contest the boat’s 15th Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race.

They hope to arrive in Sydney around Tuesday 20 December (tbc).
