Slight increase in the IRC speed limit for 2004 Race

The Cruising Yacht Club of Australia has announced a slight increase in the IRC (International Rule Club) upper speed limit, from 1.61 to 1.615, and the continuation of an absolute size limit of 30 metres length overall (LOA), effective for this year’s 60th Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race

IRC to decide Tattersalls Cup in 60th Race

The Cruising Yacht Club of Australia has announced that the Overall Winner of the 2004 Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race will be the boat that wins the IRC (International Rule Club) handicap category overall on corrected time.

Only one yacht still to finish marathon voyage

The smallest yacht in the fleet, the 30-footer Katinka, remains the only yacht at sea in the 59th Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race following the arrival just before 7.30 am today of another small boat, Berrimilla.

There’s nothing Quixotic about this formula.

This 2003 Rolex Sydney Hobart has been a race for cruiser racers, boats that are comfortable as well as fast. Thory Gunnerson took his lovely timber cruiser Tilting at Windmills to New Zealand cruising, and came back to take second place in Australia's premier ocean race.

Overall and Divisions winners and placegetters announced

Yachts representing New South Wales, Victoria and Great Britain have won the handicap divisions of the 2003 Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race. The results were officially announced at a dockside ceremony in Hobart this morning.

This year, the cruising yachts have made a comeback. Two of the top three boats are cruiser racers. Indeed, the best a purebred racer could manage was third.
