Ichi Ban

CYCA Commodore Matt Allen is bringing his Jones 70 Ichi Ban, which competed in the 2005-06 VOR and finished second to Wild Oats XI in last year’s Rolex Sydney Hobart, to the start line for the second time. 

The boat will be sailed by a star-studded and highly experienced crew, including Michael Coxon, Michael Spies (30 Hobarts), Robert Case (22) and round the world sailor Tom Braidwood who just completed the Transat 650.  In the right conditions, this modified Volvo 70 is capable of reaching speeds in excess of 30 knots or 55 kilometres per hour.
