The Goat

The Goat

Bruce Foye and Lance Peckman were partners with Roger Hickman in the Farr 43 Wild Oats when she won the last IOR category of the Sydney Hobart Race in 1993.  Bruce and Lance have made a successful return to ocean racing three years ago with this Sydney 38, The Goat, which was the nickname for the original Wild Oats.

New partner Tony Clift, whose cattle property is the furthest point from the sea anywhere in Australia, is attempting his maiden Hobart. The rest of the crew have plenty of small boat Hobart experience and are looking forward to the challenges a four day match race to Tassie provides. The Goat is arguably the most successful Sydney 38 having  won the Sydney 38 One Design division of the 2007 Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race and finished second in 2008 and third in 2009.  The Sub Zero Goat won the Sydney 38 OD Division and IRC Division 3 of the Audi Sydney Gold Coast Yacht Race 2008, and also finished third overall under IRC. In last year’s Audi Sydney Gold Coast Yacht race, The Goat placed third in IRC Division 3 and second in the Sydney 38 Division. She also won the Sydney 38 National Championships earlier this year.
