Tow Truck
In 2008, after a two year absence from the Rolex Sydney Hobart, Tow Truck returned with a win in IRC Division 3. In March, she finished second in IRC Division 2 of the Audi Sydney Offshore Newcastle Yacht Race and followed this with a second place in IRC Division 2 in the Audi Sydney Gold Coast Yacht Race, behind the overall winner AFR Midnight Rambler. An extensive international search to find a replacement for Anthony Paterson’s famous Mumm 30 Tow Truck was completed with the discovery of this Jason Ker-designed 11.3m racing yacht on the island of Jersey. The Ker 11.3 is a semi popular one-design class from the design board of successful Spanish-based British designer Jason Ker. The ‘new’ Tow Truck was shipped in a car transport ship from Southampton and assembled at Lake Macquarie.
