Third retirement from Rolex Sydney Hobart

Victorian entrant Ice Fire has become the third yacht to retire from this year’s Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race.

Victorian entrant Ice Fire has become the third yacht to retire from this year’s Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race.  The yacht has sustained damage to its mast.

With 21 yachts now docked in Hobart and three retired, there are still 61 boats racing.  Four yachts are due in between 12noon and 2pm – Wot’s Next (NSW), Prowler (SA), Shogun (VIC) and NSW yacht Kaz whose crew includes sailors with disabilities.

The Overall Winner on handicap is still to be officially decided.  Queensland yacht Ray White Koomooloo, which is the oldest yacht in the race, is still in contention for the handicap win although she needs to gain some eight hours to take the treble away from Wild Oats XI.
