Extension for Rolex Challenge Australian Team

Yachting Australia today extended for a further five working days the deadline for yacht owners to put forward nominations to be part of the Australian Team for the 2005 Rolex Challenge.

Yachting Australia today extended for a further five working days the deadline for yacht owners to put forward nominations to be part of the Australian Team for the 2005 Rolex Challenge. 

The Rolex Challenge, an international and interstate series for teams of two yachts will be scored on results in the Rolex Trophy rating series and the Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race.

Yachting Australia said that in accordance with the call for Expressions of Interest published on the 10 November 2005, it has received a number of nominations for the Australian Team for the Rolex Challenge 2005. 

However, as the nominations received do not fully comply with the conditions of entry to the Rolex Challenge, Yachting Australia has determined to allow a further five working days for the current nominations and/or further nominations to complete the appropriate entry and nomination procedures and therefore be considered for selection to the Australian Team. The closing date will be Friday 2 December at 1700 hours.

Nominees are reminded that to be considered for selection to the Australian Team they need to be comply with the conditions of the Notice of Race of the Rolex Challenge which, in particular, stipulates that in clause 3.1.4 (extract follows, bolding has been added by Yachting Australia for the purpose of highlighting the key message regarding compliance for nomination) – "Two boats representing a Country or a State or Territory may enter the Rolex Challenge as a team. The team entry shall be accompanied by a letter from the appropriate authority confirming the teams representative status.

Each team shall comprise two boats entered in the IRC Handicap Category of the Rolex Trophy and the Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race. Each boat representing ….:"
