The Cruising Yacht Club of Australia (CYCA) continues to monitor all news and updates regarding recent cases of COVID-19 in Sydney’s Northern Beaches and other specified locations.

The CYCA encourages all Competitors, Members, Guests, Volunteers and Staff who reside in the areas or may have visited the locations listed to follow the recommendations outlined by NSW Health and stay up to date with the NSW Government latest COVID-19 news and updates.

We will update this page and the Club’s social media channels again as soon as there is any news or decisions made that impact on the 2020 Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race.

 

1840hrs FRIDAY 18 DECEMBER 2020

The Cruising Yacht Club of Australia (CYCA) Board met this evening to discuss the evolving COVID-19 situation in NSW. The CYCA is continuing to plan for the running of the 2020 Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race.

The CYCA is closely monitoring the NSW Government latest COVID-19 news and updates and the Tasmanian Government COVID-19 important community updates and continues to work specifically with the Tasmania Department of Health. 

The CYCA will put in place all required measures to ensure a COVIDSafe Race. This may include last-minute changes to the shoreside aspect of the Race in Sydney and specifically on arrival in Hobart.

As always the safety of our Competitors, Members, Guests, Volunteers and People remains our utmost priority as well as the safety of NSW and Tasmanian citizens. The Club will follow all guidelines and regulations issued by the NSW or Tasmanian Government.

As we have seen in the last few days, this is an ever-changing situation. The Cub will provide an update at approximately 0900hrs tomorrow morning, Saturday 19 December.

As previously stated in the 0800hrs update, the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia (CYCA) is continuing to plan for the running of the 2020 Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race.

The CYCA is closely monitoring the NSW Government latest COVID-19 news and updates and the Tasmanian Government COVID-19 important community updates.

The CYCA continues to work with NSW Health and the Tasmania Department of Health and we will put any additional measures in place to ensure the Race remains COVIDSafe.

The CYCA premises remain open, however, the Club asks Members and guests to strictly adhere to NSW Health’s guidelines.

The Club will have further discussions with the Tasmanian Department of Health this afternoon and will provide another update at approximately 1800hrs.

The CYCA continues to work with NSW Health and the Tasmania Department of Health and we will put any additional measures in place to ensure that the Race remains COVIDSafe.

The Cruising Yacht Club of Australia (CYCA) has been closely monitoring the evolving cases of COVID-19 in NSW.

As always, CYCA is working closely with, and following the directions of, both the NSW and TAS Health Departments.

Please be advised that the Tasmanian Government Coronavirus website has been recently updated to notify that anyone who has been at the premises listed below during the specified times are not permitted to enter Tasmania.

Screening on arrival in Hobart (Competitors)

Please see below for the current screening procedure, we will also be providing further information as comes to hand. These procedures will be further detailed at the Race Briefing:

  • as part of the usual screening process for entry into Tasmania all Competitors are required to complete the Tasmania e-travel online form;
  • this year, as boats report at Tasman Island in accordance with the Sailing Instructions, they will also be required to assess and declare whether the crew are showing any symptoms of COVID-19; and
  • following finishing, boats will be escorted to Murray St Pier where they will dock on a temporary floating pontoon. All crew will need to pass screening from Tasmania Health & Biosecurity representatives before they can berth at King St Pier.
