Challenge
Veteran Victorian yachtsman Lou Abrahams has raced to Hobart 43 times, skippering his own boat in all but his first two Hobarts, and will this year equal the record set by the late John Bennetto, 44. Now aged 79, Lou has won the race Overall twice, in 1983 and 1989 with previous yachts and last year was the Sydney 38 class winner. The crew has sailed in more than 120 Rolex Sydney Hobart Races and should the weather favour the smaller yachts, Challenge no doubt will do well Overall and in her class. Barney Walker who last sailed with Lou when they won in ’89 is joining Abrahams’ for possibly his last Hobart hurrah.
