Ragamuffin

 

Syd Fischer, a legend in Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race history, is contesting his 38th race to Tasmania as skipper of his own boat, the 8th to be named Ragamuffin. Over the years this champion Farr 50 has notched up a 2nd and 3rd overall in the Hobart Race and has won the Gold Coast and Mooloolaba races. Fischer won the Sydney Hobart overall in 1992 with his previous Ragamuffin and has taken honours twice with his German Frers designed maxi Ragamuffin twice, in 1988 and 1990. Unless the boat fails to start, long term crewman Tony Ellis will reach his 40th race this year and will be recognised in Hobart at the official trophy presentation on 1 January 2007.
