Nest Property
Nest Property also known as Restless, at 9.14 metres is one of the smallest yachts to contest this 628 mile race to Hobart. A Peter Cole designed Traditional 30, Nest Property was launched in 1984 and campaigned successfully in Queensland. A very strongly built boat, it weighs in at almost 4.5 tonnes.
Nest Property finished mid-field on Handicap in the Maria Island Qualifying race, and caries a crew of 6. Owner and skipper is Murray Wilkes from Hobart. The navigator is ex Tasmanian Chris Bowling. Sailing master is Fastnet race veteran Major Stephen Kerr-Ruston from England. Crewman Major Phil Duncan resides in Broome, While the remaining crew reside in Sydney.
This will be Nest Property's first Hobart but the boat has had a very successful racing history in Queensland in the 1980s under owner Barry Tickle.
