AFR Midnight Rambler
The duo of Ed Psaltis (skipper) and Bob Thomas (navigator) have sailed together for over 19 years across six boats ranging in size from 30-40ft. AFR Midnight Rambler has been optimised for IRC and recently underwent modifications which paid dividends when she won the Audi Sydney Gold Coast Yacht Race overall in July this year – the only east coast yacht race the duo had not won.
AFR Midnight Rambler has achieved multiple divisional wins including a well deserved Blue Water Pointscore Championship in 2006/07 and Short Ocean Point Score in the same season. The owners have won every offshore race on the east coast including the Rolex Sydney Hobart, the Lord Howe Island Race twice, the Sydney Mooloolaba Race (twice) and finally succeeded in winning the Audi Sydney Gold Coast Yacht Race having previously won their division three times. One of the duo’s more memorable wins was their overall win in the 1998 Sydney Hobart Yacht Race. The experienced pair and their regular crew are looking to build on their successes over the past two seasons.
