AUCH is a Bruce Farr designed Beneteau First 44.7 built in 2006 and purchased by owner/skipper David Bean in 2008 (formerly Honeysuckle) who sailed her to Hobart to embark on her new life.

AUCH’s name was chosen to reflect the yacht's racing and design heritage.  AUCH is the historical capital of Gascony, in the south of France famed for its ‘douceur de vivre' (sweetness of life), its rugged coast and its love affair with the ocean.

The key driver behind the purchase of the boat was owner David Bean’s passion for competitive sailing over the past 30 years and his desire to compete in the Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race on his own competitive boat.  David has completed three Hobarts, aboard B52 (2000 and 2001) and Trump Card (1994).

During the past twelve months the boat has been meticulously overhauled to optimise its peak performance.  With a permanent crew of 12, Bean has been able to secure some of Tasmania’s elite yachtsmen.  AUCH’s crew has enjoyed outstanding success both in Australia and overseas with crew members having achieved three world titles, 14 Australian titles and 24 state titles between them and competing in the Rolex Fastnet and Hong Kong to Vietnam Race with an impressive 30 Rolex Sydney Hobarts combined.

AUCH is well prepared to take on the challenge and has already opened its account at the Royal Yacht Club of Tasmania Summer pennant strongly.
