Geomatic Joker
Geomatic Joker is a David Lyons designed Jarkan 39 originally built for Sydney sailmaker Michael Lee and launched December 1998 as Amity. Team Joker, Grant Chipperfield and Tony Johnston, purchased the vessel in July 2007 and with sponsorship from Geomatic Technologies Pty Ltd, the boat has been competing under her new name of Geomatic Joker.
In April 2008, Geomatic Joker was swept onto rocks in a huge storm that hit Mornington Harbour washing 22 boats ashore. Following extensive repairs and modifications including a newly designed keel, boat speed has been much improved. Her racing history includes a win in the ORCV’s Salamanca Series (2008) which comprises of three races - Cock of the Bay, the Melbourne to Hobart Eastcoaster and the King of the Derwent and her first Rolex Sydney Hobart last year where she finished 12th in IRC Division 3 and 31st under ORCi.
