Krakatoa II
Krakatoa II is a Pogo class 40 that was designed as a stepping-stone between a Mini 6.5 and the Open 60s. Likened to a 40 foot version of a VO60, it carries 750 litres of water ballast each side which provides the required stability to carry the enormous sail area. She is a fast seaworthy boat that is suitable for short handed sailing, however she was not built to perform under IRC handicap. Krakatoa II has been a strong contender in the PHS Division of most east coast offshore races more recently with her best performance a 3rd in PHS Overall and Division 1 in the 2008 Rolex Sydney Hobart and fifth in PHS Division of the Audi Sydney Gold Coast in that same year.
