Carina
Carina is a 48 foot aluminum hull sloop, built in 1969 by Paasch Marine, designed by McCurdy & Rhodes. Despite her age, she has stood the test of time and has been as successful in recent years as she was in her early days, with a legendary record in some of the worlds premier ocean races.
With a full overhaul this spring, Carina has been outfitted with top-of-the-line components and technology which have made her as light and fast as she has ever been, and as strong and safe as any boat in the modern racing world.
Carina’s 2011 campaign was designed to integrate a circuit of the world’s premier ocean races with a circumnavigation of the globe, beginning with the 2,975 mile Transatlantic Race 2011 from Newport, RI to the Lizard in England. She then made the trek to Sydney to compete in the Rolex Sydney Hobart, and finally heads back to Newport, RI in time for the 15 June start of the Newport-Bermuda Race 2012.
