Last Tango
Previously known as Salona II, this is a relatively new cruising boat design from AD Boats in Croatia, which follows on from the Salona 45. Last Tango arrived in Australia in November 2010 and was untried and untested until she sailed her qualifiying passage prior to competing in the Rolex Sydney Hobart. Salona II is specifically design as a heavy weather working boat and will need lots of breeze to show her form. While drifters and downhill runs will not totally suit the boat, she has surprised the crew by her ability in lighter conditions, so a race mixed with plenty of on the nose work and some lighter relief reaching would be ideal for her.
Owner Phil King’s best results include a PHS win in last year’s Cabbage Tree Island Race and fifth in PHS Division in Audi Sydney Gold Coast Yacht Race 2008, with his previous Salona.
