Kraken

Officially launched at the 2014 Sydney International Boat Show, this new build First Sunfast 3600 will make its maiden voyage in this 70th Anniversary edition. Giraudo, from Perth, has owned the smaller Sunfast 3200 for the past three years and have pioneered double handed offshore sailing in the west having competed in the Blue Water Offshore Series for that period. Giraudo has had his eye on competing in the Rolex Sydney Hobart and with the launch of the 3600 he could expand his to the six required to make the race.  Karken’s name has come from the Kraken Rum, a non-descript bottle shop in Denver, Colorado. The rum sports old double glass rings in the neck of the bottle. Kraken is also a “sea beast of myth and legend”. So this new yacht sports a historic thread, “a sea beast and the rum”.
