Primitive Cool

In October 2013 John Newbold stepped up his campaign, selling the modified Farr 40 Primitive Cool (former Midnight Rambler), which retired from the 2012 Rolex Sydney Hobart, buying Geoff Boettcher’s 2010 Hobart winner, Secret Men’s Business 3.5, which also finished third in Division Z of the 2013 Rolex Fastnet Race. Primitive Cool finished 70^th overall in the 2014 Hobart, faring better the previous year with 15^th overall and fourth in Division 1. In March 2014, Primitive Cool set a new record of 9hrs 50mins 21secs in the Melbourne to King Island Race, taking 17 minutes off the previous record and scoring the triple of record, line honours and overall win. Newbold has been racing locally in the lead-up to the 2015 Hobart, taking line and overall honours in the Melbourne Stanley Race. Named 2014 Sail Canada Rolex Sailor of the Year, navigator Eric Holden joins a mostly local crew, including identity Col Anderson.
