China Easyway
China Easyway was 22nd overall and fifth in Division 4 last year. She is the former She’s Apples II, which original owner David Strong won the 1991 Sydney Hobart overall under IMS (in conjunction with IOR winner, Atara). The crew have been working hard to improve the performance of the yacht and it has shown some promise, winning IRC Division 2 of the CYCA Pre-Christmas Ocean Pointscore in 2016 and was also leading after 3 races in IRC Division 2 of the CYCA Pre-Christmas Ocean Pointscore 2017. Owner/Skipper Travis Read previously campaigned Illusion in the 2012 Hobart, finishing 23rd overall and fourth in Division 4 with co-owner Kim Jaggar, then placed 21st overall and second in Division 2 in 2013, winning the Battery Point Trophy for first yacht on IRC under 40 feet. China Easyway will be hoping for a variety of conditions that suit the smaller yachts.
