Arcadia
PJ has been the owner-skipper of Arcadia for two years after purchasing and transporting her to Victoria. The boat had been optimised for IRC racing but since reaching Melbourne has seen the addition of some cruising creature comforts, some ‘beefing up’ to meet the rigours of ocean racing in southern waters, plus a new spinnaker for this race. The team have been racing the boat regularly in the ORCV ocean racing circuit whilst also competing in the Port Lincoln Regatta in February. “The plan is to compete in this year’s 74th Rolex Sydney Hobart then back up for next year’s milestone event,” Davison says. “The great thing about this sport is you can be competitive for so many years no matter how old you are. I know some sailors that are in to their 80s and still competing, so I think I have a fair few more to go.”
