Komatsu Azzurro
If the weather dictates it is going to be a small boat race, then Komatsu Azzurro could certainly better her third place overall in 2015. She has what it takes to win this race as evidenced by her victories in both the 2015 and 2017 Sydney Gold Coast races. This famous S&S 34 design is a sister ship to the 1969 winner Morning Cloud. Returning this year with a very experienced six-man crew. Azzurro’s first race of 2018 was the PONANT Sydney Noumea Yacht Race, resulting in third place in her division. This was followed up by the round New Caledonia Groupama race, resulting in a 1st in her division. Finished first across all ORCi divisions and was 12th overall in IRC in the 2018 Noakes Sydney Gold Coast Yacht Race. Kearns has a good feeling about this year, “This year, we are going to WIN for sure! You can take that to the bank! The 2018 Komatsu Azzurro mantra is ‘Be FAST or be LAST’, so get that trophy ready!”
