Pekljus
Pekljus Is like a supersized Adams 10, based on Don McIntyre’s Buttercup; a long and skinny sled. While it might not be the lightest boat in the fleet it is surely one of the toughest! “We have been working really hard on the preparation of the boat to ensure everything is bulletproof,” says Suttie. “We are very lucky to have the sailmaker Brad Anson onboard, who’s wealth of experience has helped us immensely and put together a great sail wardrobe.” The team have learnt a lot from competing in last year’s race finishing 10th on PHS and have been able to take that knowledge in to this year’s preparations. Last year’s Hobart race memorably finished with the dockside proposal of Robert Suttie, skipper David’s son, to his partner Olivia Holtz. She said yes! Following on from its 10th on PHS in the 2017 Rolex Sydney Hobart.
