On her fourth trip south, the first two resulting in retirements, she was 61st overall in 2016 and 25th last year. Beginning life as Vanguard for well-known CYCA member Dick Cawse, the current owners David Gotze and Michael Cranitch have undertaken major modifications since purchased. New keel and rudder together with a new sail wardrobe have seen her become a consistent performer in the offshore scene. Tony Ellis will be competing in his 51st Sydney Hobart race equalling Tony Cable’s record for most number of races sailed (Cable will be crew this year on the Radio Relay Vessel, his 52nd voyage south).
