Enigma

Enigma

Jason Bond bought Enigma in 2008 and sails out of Manly Yacht Club, where he is Commodore. Enigma last pointed south in 2017 and finished 42nd overall for eighth in Division 3. Bond was forced to withdraw Enigma from the race on Boxing Day in 2016, due to engine problems. He raced her in 2016, 2017 and 2018 Audi Centre Sydney Blue Water Pointscore, winning the 2018 Flinders Islet Race Division 2 in IRC. A repeat of that success eluded Enigma in the 2019 Flinders Islet when the crew retired from their race to assist a capsized racing catamaran. In this year's series, she finished second on PHS in the Newcastle Bass Island Race and completed the challenging Cabbage Tree Island Race without mishap.

This yacht was one of the last Beneteau 47.7s to leave the factory, making her the youngest and heaviest in the class. Formerly named ‘Just Do It 3’, she sailed from Glasgow, Scotland, via Antigua, to Australia. Under Ian Darby’s ownership, she finished 50th overall in the 2008 Rolex Sydney Hobart. They are a happy crew of friends and club members who relish the challenge of the Rolex Sydney Hobart but intend to have fun, eat well on the journey down and enjoy an awesome party in Hobart!
