Insomnia
Marcus Grimes specifically purchased the JV42 for the Rolex Sydney Hobart, which he has been preparing for the last two years. As Elena Nova, it has done one race in the 2016 Rolex Sydney Hobart, when owned by Craig Neil, and finished 41st overall and seventh in Division 2 with a third in ORCi Division 2.
Grimes, who races out of his local Royal Prince Alfred Yacht Club at Pittwater, has been immersed in club races, including the Pittwater to Paradise. He says the learning curve has been steep after the step up from his old boat High Anxiety an Elliott 10.5, to the more modern and technical JV42. He and his crew are thoroughly enjoying the fun, fast boat that has proven itself capable of finishing the course, and are looking forward to the experience racing to Hobart racing some of sailing's fastest boats and biggest names. When built, and before calling Australia home, Insomnia raced out of Germany. Grimes recently drove the JV42 to third in Division 2 of the 2019 Flinders Islet Race.
