Jaffa
Terry Posma and crew came all the way from WA in 2014 and finished the Rolex Sydney Hobart 39th overall. It spurred them on to return in 2015, only to retire with engine problems. Unable to leave it at that, they return with the Runnalls 39 known as ‘Jaffa’. Good things come in small packages, and so it is with Jaffa, which has twice been runner-up in the Siska Trophy, WA’s overall blue water racing championship. She has competed in most major offshore races on the west coast, and was specifically designed for those conditions. Jaffa was constructed by well-known West Australian builder Peter Milner, and was based in Fremantle, the home of the America’s Cup in Australia. In the last five years Jaffa has been based in Melbourne where she was racing in the tough ORCV events including three West Coasters; good preparation for the 628 nautical mile race.
