Kioni Robotic Automation

Kioni is a Beneteau First 47.7 now owned by Paul Jenkins led Kioni Syndicate. She has previously contested eight Rolex Sydney Hobarts, the last in 2012 when she finished PHS fifth under Nick Athineos. Prior to that, she placed PHS 12th in 2011, was disqualified in 2009 after an incident on Sydney Harbour, finished 59th in 2008, 57th in 2007, 38th in 2006, PHS 17th in 2005 and 40th in in Hobart debut in 2004. Kioni competed repeatedly in the Sydney Mooloolaba, Sydney Gold Coast and Gosford Lord Howe Island races; many times under charter and with various names: Fine Line USA, Global Yacht Racing Kioni among them. As a sail training vessel, she introduced more than 200 sailors to ocean racing, including in the Rolex Sydney Hobart.

In 2012 she changed hands, was renamed Mango Groove and raced extensively. In mid-2018 she was purchased by a syndicate of experienced yachtsmen from Sydney lead by Paul Jenkins. She has received an extensive refit and returned to her original name, Kioni Robotic Automation, to recognise the yacht’s sponsor.
