Maverick 49

Maverick 49

Quentin Stewart sailed the 2013 Rolex Sydney Hobart on One DLL, a Clipper Round the World race entry, and the bug bit. He commissioned Maverick 49, a 46ft race yacht with canting keel and DSS foils, the first boat of its size to combine this technology, which splashed in 2016. The Rolex Sydney Hobart will complete Maverick 49’s global tour of the classic 600 mile races. Her best results include: won IRC Zero in the 2016 RORC Transatlantic Race; IRC and ORCi division 1 wins, third and 11th overall respectively under IRC in the 2016 and 2017 Rolex Middle Sea races; won Class 16 in the Open Division of the 2018 Newport Bermuda race; won the 2019 SoCal 300; sixth in Division 1 of the 2019 Transpac. Stewart has enlisted the likes of former 29er world champion Steve Thomas and Australian 49er Olympic campaigning brothers David and Lachy Gilmour in his quest to win the race.
