Ocean Crusaders
Ocean Crusaders was purchased by John and Laura Warlow earlier this year and has been competing locally in Brisbane with some good results, including third in the 2019 Division Yachts Gold Cup Regatta. John has competed in three Sydney Hobarts, most recently ENVY Scooters in 2017 and wife Laura is yet to compete in the race. They have gathered a crew of friends and family including daughter Genevieve who sailed to Hobart with Jessica Watson in 2011, Australian Wendy Tuck, who was the first and only female sailor to win an around the word race, and Ian Thomson, who set an around Australia solo record in 2010 when he launched the charity Ocean Crusaders who are dedicated to cleaning up Australian waterways. Together with his wife Annika, they have instigated the Sydney Hobart clean-up, challenging yachties to help clean at both ends of the race this year which is proudly supported by several organisation within the marine industry. They are using the race to continue the message that we must look after our oceans better, particularly by reducing our plastic consumption.
