Papillon
Phil Molony planned that last year would be his final tilt at the race, but Alec Snyder, from Newport RI USA, changed his mind. Alec did his first Rolex Sydney Hobart on Papillon in 2011 and has now done six, all but one on Papillon, he offered to run the boat and bring out three mates from the USA to augment six Australians who have all done multiple Hobarts on Papillon. The Americans have significant Transatlantic, Rolex Fastnet and Newport-Bermuda race experience. So, Papillon is back after finishing 40th overall in 2018; first across the line and second in Division 4. Molony was happy with that result, after a break in 2017, and with a crew who knew the boat well, but were geographically dispersed, with several flying in for race day. In 2014, the yachtsman marked his milestone 25th Sydney Hobart with 17th overall. After contesting eighteen Hobarts before, Molony took the plunge in 2007, purchasing his first Papillon and upgraded to this Archambault A40rc in 2010. Ralph Carlier will mark his 36th Sydney Hobart in this race.
