Pekljus
The Sutties and their followers were thrilled with Pekljus’ PHS second last year, following their PHS 10th overall in 2017. The highlight in 2017 came at the end of the race when David Suttie’s son and crew member, Robert, proposed to girlfriend Olivia dockside in Hobart. David Ferrall started building Pekljus in 2001 for Don McIntyre’s solo around the world race, but when that event was cancelled, he put the project on hold. Instead, she was launched in 2004, in time for the Rolex Sydney Hobart that year, but the Radford 50 was one of 57 retirees. This bullet-proof boat has been set up for easy handling and for fast passages, so will hold up well in a blow. Pekljus won PHS in the 2019 Noakes Sydney Gold Coast race, a good sign for the big race ahead.
