Quest
Yes, Bob Steel has bought his boat back, this time with Craig Neil. This TP52, originally owned by Steel, has in the past been named Quest and Balance. It has won the race as both; for Steel as Quest in 2008 (who also sailed her to second in her last Rolex Sydney Hobart, 2017, after a close tussle with the winner, Ichi Ban) and as Balance for Paul Clitheroe in 2015. Steel also won the race with his previous Quest in 2002. Steel and Neil, the former owner of Elena Nova, finished sixth in July’s Noakes Sydney Gold Coast race and fifth in the Flinders Islet Race.
Clitheroe skippered the boat to fourth overall to win Division 1 in the 2016 Rolex Sydney Hobart, and winning the race in 2015 converted to Clitheroe winning the Blue Water Pointscore. The ‘Money Man’ also set a new race record in the Sydney to Newcastle race, and won it overall. This boat has had remarkable results, and if the weather gets rough, the race could favour the 50 footers.
