Rogue Wave
Rogue Wave was designed by English yacht designer, builder and sailor, the late David Thomas and was launched in the UK. The 75th Sydney Hobart is her and Kevin Le Poidevin’s first, and this year also marks 36 years of global offshore sailing for the boat. For the past 10 years, the Sigma 36 has been in the care of Le Poidevin, with the two solo sailing thousands of sea miles together from Malaysia to Australia and racing from New Zealand to Mooloolaba in the 2014 and 2018 Solo Tasman Yacht Challenges, finishing third and second in IRC respectively. He says, “Our crew of old ‘rogues’ comprises enthusiastic Air Force and Port Stephens Yacht Club members and our international stealth weapon Polish sailor Ms Asia Pajkowska, who has just completed a solo unassisted circumnavigation.” The Air Force guys are looking to project Air Power superiority over their Army and Navy counterparts. The crew of compassionate sailors will be sailing to raise awareness of the support provided by Soldier On and White Ribbon.
