SailExchange

SailExchange

Sail Exchange was purchased by Tim Horkings and Carl Crafoord in September 2017. The Cookson12 competed in her first Rolex Sydney Hobart in 2018 and finished 18th IRC overall and third in Division 3. It was Crafoord’s first Rolex Sydney Hobart as a boat owner – the Sydneysider is most recognised as a navigator and has done 33 Sydney Hobarts now, with wins on Sagacious, Raptor and the two Quests. He is among the few to achieve four wins as a navigator and is one of three father sons to rack up a total of 60+ Sydney Hobarts. The boat is named after Crafoord's used sail recycling business.

Tim Horkings, co-owner of the yacht, previously sailed in the 1981, 1982, 1983 Hobarts and came back as an owner for last year’s race with many more planned. Tim has had vast experience on the maxi yacht Matador sailing in regattas in the USA and Europe from 1986 to 1988. The solid team of 10 crew have been training together for two years now and the boat has had significant upgrades since her purchase. This year, in order to gain a competitive advantage, the Sail Exchange crew has undergone a development program that draws on best practice mental skills training from both sport and business. The approach is being designed and conducted by Dr Elizabeth King from Macquarie University and uses materials developed by the global organisation, The Potential Project.
