She's Apples II

She's Apples II

Now owned by Tasmanian Marcus McKay, She’s Apples II last raced to Hobart in 2017 as China Easyway with Travis Read/Tim Wilson, and placed 32nd overall and third in Division 4. The pair sailed her to 22nd overall and fifth in Division 4 the previous year after retiring with sail damage in 2015. Original owner, David Strong, won the 1991 Sydney Hobart overall under IMS (in conjunction with IOR winner, Atara), then finished 26th overall in 1992, but retired in 1993. In 1994, rebadged AFS Freight, she finished 71st overall. The Jarkan 12.5 was then sold to Max Prentice who retired from the 1997 race, but was one of the few finishers of the 1998 race in 21st overall. McKay purchased the boat in early 2018 and is now based in Hobart. McKay sailed her in the 2018 Ponant Sydney Noumea race, but retired early in the race due to dismasting. With the boat now re-rigged, the crew has been preparing for the 75th Sydney Hobart.
