Wots Next
In his second Rolex Sydney Hobart with Wots Next last year, Charles Cupit finished 59th overall. The Sydney yachtsman purchased the Sydney 47 in 2016, returning to Sydney from Tasmania, and retired from the 2016 Rolex Sydney Hobart with broken rudder bearings. As Wot’s Next, the boat last went to Hobart in 2007 when owned by Graeme Wood. It was skippered by Bill Sykes (Wood raced his updated yacht), who took a crew of mainly CYCA Youth Sailing Academy sailors, and finished 34th overall. Sykes took a similar crew to Hobart the previous year, placing 37th. In 2005, Wood finished 10th to win Division D. Cupit is also known for his Bavaria 45, Three C’s, mostly sailing the northern circuit of regattas. Wots Next will have good competition with St Jude, which is the same design.
