Celeste (DH)
Celeste is Hull 001 of the S&S Nautor Swan 38s, co-skipped by Saskia Groen-In't-Woud (the owner) and Maud Demazure. They are participating in the Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race as both a competitive venture and a delivery and qualifier for the 5500 nautical mile double handed Melbourne to Osaka race in 2025. Celeste, a cruiser/racer sailing gem, is notable for its legendary design by Sparkman and Stephens, with its construction coincidentally beginning on the day Groen-In't-Woud was born. After sailing Celeste extensively in Scandinavian and north-western European waters, she brought the yacht to Australia, where she lives at Southport Yacht Club. Since relocating back to Australia in late 2022, she has already added several thousand miles to Celeste's log.
Co-Skipper, Demazure, is a professional skipper with a Yachtmaster Offshore certificate with over 50,000 miles under her belt, who now resides in Yamba. She has sailed all around the world and brought her Rustler 36 to Australia. She and Groen-In't-Woud met through Annette Hesselmans, another double handed competitor in the race. The Celeste duo also met with Kathy Veel, owner and skipper of the first female double handed entry in the last two Hobarts, which they found beneficial.
