This year Rupert Henry will racewith professional French sailor, Corentin Douguet, winner of the 2022 Class 40 Championship among other highlights. Since purchasing the yacht in early 2021, Henry has successfully campaigned this Lombard 34, Mistral. In last year’s Sydney Hobart, Henry and co-skipper Jack Boutell placed an impressive sixth overall, finishing first in Division 4 and winning the Double Handed division, successfully defending his win of 2022. In 2024., Mistral, sailed by Henry and Greg O’Shea, took second place in the 2024 Noakes Sydney Gold Coast Race and won the Double Handed division.
Mistral has been a top performer across the board. In 2022, Henry and then co-skipper Greg O’Shea placed second overall in the Montague Island Race to win the Double Handed division. They also won the 2023 Pittwater to Coffs race overall, with their foe, Disko Trooper_Contender Sailcloth in second place. In 2018, on Henry’s former boat Chinese Whisper (now racing as Whisper), Henry and O’Shea won the 2018 double-handed 5500nm Melbourne Osaka race and broke the race record after taking line honours. Mistral was built by Pierre Gal, who achieved a 17th overall and second in Division 5 of the 2019 Rolex Sydney Hobart.
