Smuggler

Seb Bohm’s TP52 Smuggler is among the favourite contenders for the overall trophy in the 2024 Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race. In the 2023 race, she finished 11th overall to win Division 1. Smuggler currently leads the Audi Centre Sydney Blue Water Pointscore after placing fourth overall for divisional second in the Sydney Gold Coast race, won September’s Flinders Islet Race and was third in both the Tollgate Islands and Bird Island races. The Sydney Hobart is the final race of the series and will decide the outcome.

Bohm is committed to leaving no stone unturned in preparation for this year’s race, including crew selection which includes noted tactician, Steve McConaghy and navigator, David Van Der Wende, both of whom were aboard last year. The Sydney yachtie purchased his TP52 from Sam Haynes (known as Celestial) who scored Sydney Hobart results of 17th in 2018, ninth in 2017, 16th in 2016 and 29th in 2015. The yacht’s best Hobart result was 2008 when she was known as Wot Now and achieved third overall under the ownership of Graeme Wood. Bohm previously owned a Rogers 46, Smuggler also bought from Haynes, which he won the 2018 Ponant Sydney Noumea Yacht Race with.
