Eye Candy
Eye Candy, one of the successful Sydney 38’s from Aussie designers Murry Burns Dovell, last came to the race in 2023 and placed 29th overall after retiring from her maiden Sydney Hobart in 2022 when she broke her forestay. The yacht has been based in Tasmania the past two years where Malo Leseigneur lives these days. Malo says: “This will be a third attempt at winning the Sydney 38 division.” The yacht returns with a mix of crew from New Caledonia and Tasmania.
Thierry and Malo, a father and son, have raced in Sydney previously, chartering Faster Forward for the inaugural Sydney 38 OD International Championship at Middle Harbour Yacht Club in 2017. In June 2021, they won the the Groupama Around New Caledonia Race with Eye Candy, taking ORCi overall honours too.
