Hutchies Yeah Baby
After completing a World Sailing Speed Record Council sanctioned solo around the world record attempt in 2016, Andy Lamont returned home and to fully crewed racing as the owner/skipper of Hutchies Yeah Baby. He says: “The crew are a lot more fun than the imaginary friends I had while spending 10 months alone at sea.”
Yeah Baby boasts a long and distinguished history in ocean racing, starting life as a Farr 50 in the 90s but had the deck cut off and a new Welbourn-designed hull put under it in 2000. Lamont sailed her to 46th overall in the 2023 Rolex Sydney Hobart and 67th the year before.
The yacht did its first Hobart as Audi Sunshine Coast in 2013 but retired. Lamont and his crew are organised and raring to give the 80th a good go.
