Inukshuk (DH)
With co-skipper Stuart Watson, Canadian born South Australian Robert Large, took Inukshuk to 11th in the Double Handed division last year. In 2022, with Cameron Boogaerdt co-skippering for him, Large placed 12th.
The Northshore 38 finished fourth in Division 2 of the 2024 Adelaide to Port Lincoln race. Large retired Inukshuk (the former New Morning III) from the 2021 Rolex Sydney Hobart having suffered auto pilot issues in the inaugural Two-Handed division.
The boat’s name, ‘Inukshuk’, means ‘a structure of rough stones stacked in the form of a human figure’, traditionally used by Inuit people as a landmark that symbolises safety, hope and friendship. Large, who sailed across the Atlantic Ocean to the Caribbean in 2014, says, “I tend to favour cold weather sailing and the more challenging the conditions – the better,” which is why he loves the Sydney Hobart.
