Loch Sloidh 3

Loch Sloidh 3

This Sydney 38 has come out of long offshore racing mothballs. Peter McFarlane bought the ex-Hidden Agenda, formerly owned by Graham Gibson, who took the sail number, 9797 from Ninety Seven, the 1993 Sydney Hobart Line Honours winner that he purchased from Andrew Strachan.

Gibson then applied it to this yacht which he took to Hobart in 2004 and 2005. The name Loch Sloidh comes from Clan McFarlane, a highland Scottish clan – and Peter McFarlane’s ancestors. Translated from Gaelic, it means ‘The Loch of the Host’. McFarlane has been sailing most his life and bought his first boat, a high-performance Fireball dinghy, at 14 with his paper run savings.

His most recent success was placing second under AMS and in Division 2 in the 2025 Adelaide to Port Lincoln Race. We’ll see what the clan has to offer in the 80th Sydney Hobart.
