MRV

Damien King’s MRV (Margaret Rintoul V) finished eighth overall and won Division 2 in the 2023 Rolex Sydney Hobart. In May 2025, King took line and overall honours in the Apollo Bay Race, repeating his success in the 70^th race in 2023, a great 50^th birthday celebration for him. The Victorian sailor also contested the 2021 Hobart with this Frers 61 and placed 18^th overall.

King always collects an eclectic crew that includes male and female champion sailors on the last Margaret Rintoul built for Stan Edwards, a sailing figure of note during the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s. Edwards competed for Australia internationally with previous Rintouls. This one has competed in most major races on the east coast of Australia with Edwards, and subsequent owner Graham Buckeridge and partners, who purchased her in 2007, but it’s King who has done best with this yacht.
