Prime Example
Robbie Fisher bought Prime Example, which has twice done the Hobart. As Indec Prime Example for David Gotze, she finished third overall in the 50th anniversary Sydney Hobart in the record fleet of 371 boats and took Line Honours in the 1993 Melbourne to Hobart. Her second Hobart was as Prime Example in 1996, when owned by Graham Williams.
Fisher last headed south in 2023 on Helsal 3, with his wife, two children and his father’s ashes. Mainsail and other damage meant they retired off the Tassie coast. Tony, Fisher’s father, took Line Honours and broke the 1973 Hobart race record with Helsal, dubbed ‘The Flying Footpath’, as she was built from ferro cement. Fisher spent a good part of his life in Sydney where he sailed on some of his father’s famous Helsals, a couple of which he later bought.
