Rising Sun

RISING SUN joined the Army fleet in 2025, replacing the trusty GUN RUNNER. Its Sydney Hobart Race entry is part of a unique training program, with around 60 soldiers taking turns across five offshore passages between Sydney and Melbourne. For most, it’s their first taste of life at sea.

The mission is to build amphibious skills, develop leadership and teamwork among junior leaders, support recruitment and retention, and strengthen ties with the Veterans Community along the Eastern Seaboard
