She

The resilient ‘She’ is coming up for Hobart no. 23 – only six others have done more, including record holder Bacardi, which this year clocks up 32 Hobarts. Philip Bell last raced She to Hobart in 2023 but retired. She was eighth in PHS in 2022, her fourth Hobart with Philip Bell, who mainly races in local waters and strays further north to Airlie Beach and Hamilton Island race weeks on occasions.

Apart from her first three Hobarts, the modified Olsen 40’s other Sydney Hobarts were sailed under PHS. Peter Rodgers owned her through 17 Hobarts and a few updates, last racing her to Hobart in 2013, winning PHS overall and PHS Division 2. She also won in 2009 and 2012 and was fourth in the tough 2004 Hobart.
